How to View Media Quality of Experience (QoE)

Quality of Experience (QoE) measures video performance and user satisfaction during playback. QoE analytics help identify and resolve Quality of Service (QoS) issues such as buffering, load times, and player errors, leading to improved user experience and efficient network resource utilization. For more details, see Understanding Media Quality of Experience (QoE).

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you:

  • Belong to a group with Content Analytics permission enabled

View QoE Dashboard

  1. In VIDIZMO, go to Admin > Media Manager.
  2. Select the Published tab.
  3. Select the media to view its QoE.
  4. Select QoE from the action bar.

QoE Dashboard Metrics

Time Frame Selection

Filter analytics data by selecting a time frame (weekly, monthly, yearly) and date range from the dropdown in the upper left corner.

Views and Viewers

Displays the total view count and number of unique viewers who interacted with the video.

Time Played

Shows the total duration the video has been played across all sessions.

Load Time

Average time taken to load the first frame of the video. This metric directly affects initial user perception of content quality.

Player Buffering

Average ratio of total buffering time to total playback time. Indicates how smooth the viewing experience was and helps identify areas for improvement.

Player Errors

Count of errors caused by:

  • Network disconnection from video source
  • Content unavailability
  • Player crashes

Player Load Time by Location

Chart comparing video player load time across different geographical regions.

Cache Hit Ratio

Displays the effectiveness of VIDIZMO's caching mechanism:

  • ECDN - Number of requests served from ECDN edge servers (cache hits)
  • Direct - Number of requests served directly from origin content storage without using ECDN nodes

The chart shows the ratio of user requests served by ECDN edge servers versus direct origin requests.

Device Buffering

Percentage of buffering that occurred during video playback, monitored per device type used to access the video.

Device Errors

Error frequency by device type. Errors include network disconnections, unavailable content, or player crashes.

Buffering Heat Map

Geographical heat map highlighting locations experiencing the most buffering or content loading issues:

  • Map view - Visual representation with satellite or standard map toggle
  • Table view - Lists locations with highest buffering percentages globally

Error Heat Map

Geographical heat map identifying locations where playback errors occur:

  • Map view - Visual representation with satellite or standard map toggle
  • Table view - Lists locations with error counts

Media Quality

Chart showing the distribution of video quality renditions played throughout playback duration. Displays total views per quality level/bitrate. Video quality is automatically selected based on transcoding settings and network conditions.

Additional Metrics

The QoE dashboard also tracks:

  • Bandwidth - Network bandwidth consumption during playback
  • Completions - Number of times media was watched completely
  • Impressions - Number of times the player was loaded

Chart Options

All QoE charts support the following options:

  • Download - Export data as CSV using the download button
  • Legends - Select chart legends to show or hide specific data series
  • View toggle - Switch between graph and tabular grid views
  • Tooltips - Hover over chart elements to view detailed information
